- Medical studies have consistently shown that a moderate amount of physical activity is one of the keys to a long, healthy and productive life.
- Recent studies have shown, however, that the people of Ontario are living an increasingly sedentary lifestyle.
- The Government of Ontario recognizes the contributions made by coaches, volunteers, educators, parents and medical professionals in the promotion of physical fitness.
- Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
o Physical Fitness Day – The first Friday in September of each year is proclaimed as Physical Fitness Day.
